FULL ITINERARY
Day 1: Ulaanbaatar Arrival (D)
Arrive at the Ulaanbaatar Airport. Then transfer to the hotel. Dinner & overnight in the hotel.
Day 2: Ulaanbaatar city tour
In the morning, we will start with a visit to the Genghis Khan Museum and explore the Bogd Khan's Winter and Summer Palace. Lunch will be served at a restaurant. In the afternoon, we will stop at Gandantegchinlen Monastery. We will conclude the city tour at Zaisan Hill, where you can enjoy a panoramic view of Ulaanbaatar. Dinner and overnight in the hotel.
Day 3: Ulaanbaatar - Genghis Khan Statue & Gorkhi Terelji National Park
We will set off early in the morning towards Gorkhi-Terelj National Park, located 70 km from the capital. Our first destination is the iconic Genghis Khan Statue. After lunch, we will explore Gorkhi-Terelj National Park, then stop at the famous Turtle Rock. Next, we will visit Aryaval Monastery, and finally, you can enjoy an optional activity of horseback riding. At the end of the day, we will immerse ourselves in traditional Mongolian culture by staying overnight in a Ger, a traditional Mongolian tent.
Day 4: Khustai National Park
After breakfast, we will embark on a 200 km journey to Khustain Nuruu National Park. After lunch, we will spend the afternoon exploring the park, a biodiversity hotspot with 459 vascular plant species and 217 bird species. Continue your experience of Mongolian culture with another night in a traditional Ger.
Day 5: Karrakorum - The Ancient Capital
Today, we will begin our journey of 260 km to Karakorum, the legendary capital of the Mongolian Empire during Genghis Khan's reign in the 13th century. The main attractions we will visit include Erdene Zuu Monastery and the Karakorum Archaeological Museum. Additional sites will be Turtle Rock, Phallic Rock, and a visit to the local market. We will end the day with an experience in a traditional Ger camp, surrounded by the historic ambiance of Karakorum.
Day 6: Orkhon Valley & Orkhon Waterfall
Drive 120 km west into the beautiful Orkhon Valley and visit the Orkhon Waterfall, a stunning natural landmark formed by volcanic activity during the Quaternary period. After exploring the valley, you will enjoy a Mongolian barbecue, a culinary experience that offers a true taste of the nomadic lifestyle. Finally, immerse yourself in a traditional Ger camp, surrounded by the pristine beauty of the Mongolian wilderness.
Day 7: Khogno Khan Mountains - Elsen Tasarkhai Sand Dunes
Set off on a 150 km journey to Khogno Khan National Park. Upon arrival, we will begin our trek through the Khogno Khan Mountains, and during our journey, we will visit Ovgon Monastery. In the late afternoon, we will visit the Elsen Tasarkhai Sand Dunes and meet a local camel breeding family. Spend the night in a traditional Ger camp, enjoying the tranquility and simplicity of nomadic life.
Day 8: Ulaanbaatar & Cultural Immersion
After a hearty breakfast, we will embark on a 260 km journey back to Ulaanbaatar. The afternoon will be your time to explore the city at your own pace. In the evening, we will attend an engaging performance by the Tumen Ekh Ensemble.
Day 9: Ulaanbaatar Departure
